Iosso brass cleaner
« on: December 29, 2006, 02:04:15 AM »
Does anybody use this product? Does it work? Somewhere I read that it was reusable. Is that true? Will I have to pay a hasmat fee?  Thanks, TVC15

I use it in my tumbler. As far as I know that is the same product. You just add a tablespoon to the media and turn it on. Polishes up old brass nicely.

I use the Iosso product. It works and is re-usable. I use it every 2-3 reloads on pistol brass, and it cleans it well. I bought a quart 3-4 years ago, and I must have cleaned 2-3000 rounds with it. I do need more.

I did a review on it some years back, not sure if that review is still up or if it was one of those we lost but it worked extremely well. Don't leave the brass in too long tho, follow the instructions. I had some brass that has some type of black spots on them that nothing had taken off before not even 0000 steel wool and this stuff removed it with no problems.

If you don't own a tumbler and just want to clean your brass with little hassle the stuff is amazing.

You have to be careful with chemical cleaners, they can attack the brass, another thing that is a really good idea is to deprime the brass before cleaning it, that way none of the chemical can be trapped in the primer pocket, you haven't lived till you try to resize a case and the bottom of the primer pops out and leaves the sides behind, I have personal experience with that, I hate to throw brass away but that's about all you can do with it at that point.

Vibratory case cleaners are the best thing that has come along for reloaders, they are inexpensive, they work well, and can't harm the cases.

With the ISSO product it is VERY important not to leave the brass in too long. It is easily washed off with water but you don't want to just dunk them and forget them.

I agree with Wingman.  The stuff works great, but you do need to be careful.  If you clean primed cases, deprime them quickly.  Mine didn't break a primer in half fortunately, but I did have a lot of corrosion in the pocket, even after a good rinse.

I have since upgraded to a tumbler.  I have a smaller model made by Midway and I wouldn't go back.  It's nice for me because I run it on a small plug-in style timer.  I set it to run for an hour or so and go to work or whatever, unplug it later and leave the cases until I've got time for them.
