It's been a good season so far. Before seaon, I sighted in rifle with standard load - 240gr XTP in TC's MagExpress - and tried out a few of TC's 'CheapShot' pure lead sabots on paper. They're cheap, alright - $3.99/box of 20 - and seemed to shoot well, grouping the same as XTP, if not better. After taking two deer using the XTP... I decided to give the CheapShots a try on game. I've since killed one buck and one doe, and... these things work just great. I shot the buck from from high up a tree, hitting between shoulder blade - removed about 3" of neck/spine, he dropped straight down. Shot a doe tonight; hit right rear ribcage, bullet angled across and broken bones in off shoulder before exiting, leaving a large hole; deer went about 30 yards on 3 legs. What was odd, was the entrance; broke three ribs, and part of gut was hanging out.
Anyhow... it is nice to find a good, cheap bulllet; I think I'll use these from now on. I don't think the XTP does any better. Anyone else here using these 'Cheapshot' sabots? Let me know how they've worked out.
