ring height of 30mm high rings
« on: January 03, 2007, 09:51:05 PM »
I have a problem--I have a new Target 204 and I have a 30mm 8-40x56 I want to mount on it.

Since it is a side-focus for parallax there's  no extra material around the bell.  It's O.D. is 2.525"; the O.D. on my Simmons 50mm AO scope is 2.510".  so, I think the High 30mm rings will work but I'd like to know before I get back on the phone w/ CS.

I called Ruger and the person I spoke with said that there are no x-high rings in 30mm tube for the MKII rifles.

I need to know how tall the front ring is, from the "base" to the bottom of thr ring's I.D.

Not cheap---but these would probably solve your problem.

Thanks for the reply OBG.  I was at the Midway site looking at what's out there---

I'm really surprised that there are no Ruger x-high 30mm rings available for the MKII--and feeling quite annoyed.  Ruger touts their scope mounting system as a selling
point; right now I feel like I'm stuck with it.

I assumed that x-high 30mm rings would be available for the MKII line of rifles--they make 'em for the #1.  Silly me--who'd want to put really fine glass on a dedicated varmint gun anyway!

I'm not thrilled with the idea of spending another $80 for rings but if that's what I hafta do I guess that's what I'll do.

Just burns my butt is all.

EDIT:  I called Ruger's CS again and the person I got this time was able to give me the dimensions I needed to know:  the 30mm high rings are short ring= 0.525"; tall one= .680".  That should work great with my scope.
