I've been reading the pros and cons of the newer Taurus handguns. Sounds like the QC has been going down. The Gaucho was written up in a magazine in an article by Rees. In it he had high praise for the SA Taurus and the gun was very accurate and shot to point of aim. I'm sure the powers that be sent him a good gun to write up-Icould be wrong about this. My question: do any of you on this forum have a Gaucho? And your opinions and comments on same would be welcome. Hunman55

I must be the only one who has a Gaucho. I pretty much agree with Rees. I really like mine. I did not care for the plastic grips and made a pair from red oak which I like much better.

I bought one last yr in 38/357.  So far so good.  Shoots about two inches At 7 o'clock from POA at 25 yds.  That was with REALLY wimpy 38's.  I do not like the narrowness of the trigger but............I can live with it.

Look on the 2nd page of the "Single Action" forum.  I've been looking at them too and wanted to read about them from soemone not working for a magazine.  Aside from the folks that advise you to stay away from Taurus at all cost; those that have one have really liked them.  For the money they look like a great deal.  I'm thinking I'll go for one in 45LC with 5.5" barrel in a case hardened finish.

I own one in .45LC, 5.5 in bbl.  Case hardening is beautiful and lockup is nice and tight.  Shoots well, great trigger.  I had 2 problems with it out of the box - a poorly fitted transfer bar which would cause light strikes (FTF) and the cylinder base pin would get stuck (couldn't remove it) after 2-3 cylinders.  My shop shipped it back to Taurus for me and I got it back in about 3 weeks with a new transfer bar and a new base pin.  I had already ordered a Belt Mountain pin and put it in as soon as I got the gun back, it's been perfect since.
