rossi 92

I figured that somebody here would  know this.  I'm thinking about buying a 357 leveraction.  I'm down to the Marlin and the Rossi.  Here's my question.  Are the EMF rifles made by Rossi?  Other than Legacy, how many other names have the rossi rifles been sold under?  Thanks for the info!

I think it's a little hit and miss. FWIW, I have a Puma M92 carbine in 45 Colt (from Legacy) that I absolutely love! Points and balances well, just feels "right". No problems with fit/finish/action. Should be less money than the Marlin. Personally, I didn't think the Marlin 1894 Cowboy balanced as well as the Rossi.

i have an EMF "Hartford" 1892 stainless, and yes, it is made by Rossi.  the Legacy Sports "PUMA" is also a Rossi, as are the 1892s from Replica Arms.

great gun, by the way, and if you REALLY wanna make it SWEET, get an action job by Steve Young.  stevesgunz.com

Steve is a class act and his action job will make your Rossi the slickest levergun around.

Rossi was bought by Taurus a few years ago. We can thank this merger for that stupid little safety on the bolt.

The Rossi/Taurus 92s are sold by Legacy, EMF, and Navy Arms.

Model 92 clones are also made by Armi San Marcos in Italy. These are sold by Cimarron and Taylor and Co.

This is a writeup on the Cimarron version: http://www.gunblast.com/Cimarron-1892.htm

Several years ago I ordered a Model 92 with a 24 inch octogon barrel and walnut stock from Navy Arms. When I got it I stripped their finish off the stock, and hand rubbed it with true oil. It looked like my Model 94 looked in 1957 when it was bought new. I carry this rifle EVERY DAY. I MEAN EVERY DAY. No it doesn't look new anymore, but after I put a Lyman receiver sight and front sight just like the one on my Model 94, (which is a white stripe ramp) it is a tack driver. It is in 357mag and inside 75 yards it will do what my 3030 will do.

I have 3 levers made by Rossi.
In my opinion, the Rossi is the best value in a levergun period.
The actions are stronger than any competitor also.

Before Legacy Sports, EMF and Navy Arms, the Rossi Pumas (including most of those with the ugly cat head imbedded in the receiver) were imported by the now defunct Interarms of Virginia.

I have a Rossi Puma pre-safety .357 16" and a blue LSI .454 with a 20" barrel.  I would highly recommend these guns.  They are both accurate and fun.  Both are great quality.  There are a lot of them new on the auctions reasonably priced NIB.  The .454 has the safety but I pretend it doesn't rather than pay someone to take it off.  Get you one!  You won't be sorry.  The .454. full house loads really smack on both ends!

Good Shooting,
