TC custom or MGM barrels
« on: January 19, 2007, 02:50:44 PM »
I want to order a encore frame and buy a 257 roberts custom barrel. Ed tc has a tc custom heavy barrel for $265 or I can get a MGM heavy barrel for $385. Does any one know if there is much of a difference between the two. And is the hanger bar system worth the money or does  washers work just as good. Thank for any info.

I owned a 257 Roberts from T/C Fox Ridge a while back, and sold it and purchased a 257 Roberts from Bullberry.  The Bullberry is a little better shooter, but the T/C one was pretty good and more than enough for hunting.  I now own the Bullberry and a MGM 257 Roberts AI, and the MGM is terrific and is deadly accurate.  In fact, I will probably sell the Bullberry off pretty soon since I don't really use it anymore.

MGM all the way T/C custom is still T/C and they seem to be hit or miss.

I have a MGM 7 mag barrell and after only two break-in shots from the brand new barrell the next two shots were in the same hole @ 100 yards...  ;D

I just got my  MGM 50 caliber muzzleloader barrel  today.  24" barrel with 1-28" twist.  They said it would take around 6 weeks but it arrived in 25 days.  Quality is OUTSTANDING.  Email me if you want a picture.

Bullberry took over FIVE MONTHS to make a .308 barrel after promising delivery in 3 months.  Got it the week before deer season and had to rush to get it sighted in.  Quality was great but the forend hanger thing is a real pain in the A** if you ask me.

Go with MGM.
