Nikon Scope Toughness?
« on: January 05, 2007, 03:34:37 PM »
Hi Guys,

Does anyone know how tough the Nikon scopes are?  Are they up to handling the recoil of a 300 Weatherby Magnum regularly?

Thanks for your time.

The Monarch series, the Buckmaster's, and the new Omega should be able stand up the Weatherby with no problems at all.  I had a 2-7x32 Monarch on 6lb 30-06 and it was fine.

I have a 3-9X40 Buckmaster on a Rem Sendero 338UltraMag and it has over 100 rounds since mounted without loss of zero or any other failure and  this was after it came off of a 7mmSTW.  They hold their zero better than any scope I have used including Leupold, and I am not knocking Leupolds, I just think the Nikons are terrific.

I have a 3x9x40 buckmaster on my -06 and love it. Hasn't gone out of adjustment since I installed it 5 + years ago.
