Sent off my Handi
« on: January 07, 2007, 03:06:50 AM »
I sent my reciever off to NEF. going to get a .280 rem barrel. Probably get it "improved" when I get it back. After that I am really thinking about having PR make a .35 Whelan fo me. Already have the .204 Ruger so I will still need to get a 12ga. for turkey and a ML barrel will complete my handi arsenal(for now).

Great caliber choice. I am sure you will be happy with it, as it's hard to find a factory rifle chambered in it and having a 26" barrel. Plus they seem to absolutely love the cheap Remington Core-Lokts.
Look forward to hearing a report.

I cant wait to get it back. I know tan they claim a 6-8 week turnaround but I expect that it will take longer than that. I'll let you know when I get it back.

Why did you send it through your local FFL and not directly to them yourself? Isn't that a bit more of an expense? You can call them to see if they have the barrel you want in stock and then send your reciever out yourself for less than $7.00 by USPS Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation....<><.... ???

Just to update ya'll on turn around time, I called yesterday to check on mine.  They recieved it on 6 Nov.  The lady told me they did inventory the week before CHRISTmas, closed the week after, then last week was having machine problems of some kind, so not much got done for three weeks.  They just got back to fitting barrels this week, and was working on the last week of October still.
