Savage manufactured the Model 99 in 7mm/08. This caliber, together with the Monte Carlo stock, was added to the Model 99-C (Clip magazine model) in 1981 and discontinued in 1984, so a Model 99 in 7mm/08 is rather rare, but they're out there if you look hard enough.
Look for that Monte Carlo stock... then look to see if it's in 7mm/08 caliber. That's a .308 Winchester cartridge case necked down to .284 (or "7mm"). The 7mm/08 caliber is a slightly lower performer than the 100+ year old 7x57 Mauser when the 7x57 Mauser cartridge is loaded to its full potential, but the 7mm/08 is one of the growing "family" of modern cartridges using a necked down or necked up .308 Winchester case.
Incidentally, Savage added the .308 Winchester cartridge to the Models 99R, RS and EG in 1955... and the .243 and .358 calibers to the Models 99R, RS & EG in 1956... and to the Model F in 1959.
