Ruger #1 Recoil?

Just wondering how much recoil the ruger #1 in 375 h&h or 459 LOTT has.Looking at a #1 stainless laminate BBZ. How are they for accuracy?

  Both those cartridges will have considerable felt recoil in a #1.  The design seems to put the full force of the recoil right back at the shooter.   I love my #1's I've got now and will get at least 3 more in other chamberings so I'd not suggest a different model - they're awesome rifles. 
  Curious what is the intended purose of such a gun?  These are more "African" loas than anything really neccessary for this continant.

I have shot a 416 Rigby offhand and would not want to shoot it from a bench

A lot of guys put mercury recoil reducers in the stock, which appears to cut down felt-recoil considerably. Mine's a .308 so it doesn't really bother me, but you might try that.

Take a 12 gauge 3" shotgun with the lightest turkey load you can find. Shoot it from a sitting position. That'll give you some idea of what a .375 H&H would feel like. A maximum 3 1/2" load or a heavy 10 gauge load'll give you an idea of the .458 Lott.  :'(

It's kind of subjective thing with recoil and how the stock fits you.  A .375 H&H is not that bad, just don't expect to shoot from the bench more then one box.  The one I used to have was very very accurate.  It was a later model with black buttpad.  My limit was with the .458 win mag, having had rotory-cuff surgery about 5 years ago, it was just too much even shooting offhand.  That one was one of the older models with a red buttpad.  Never did well group wise with that rifle, believe that flinching was more the problem then the rifle.
