« on: January 14, 2007, 11:57:19 AM »
Does anyone have any coyote experience with these?? My buddy just got a .308 and wants to use his new rifle on a coyote hunt next weekend? I know they will drop a coyote but how much damage will it do?. - Thanks Kevin

Assuming .308 with 110 Varminter at 3000+ fps...how much damage to a coyote? A releative close one and a good hit...a lot! Have shot numerous coyotes and rock chucks with the 110 gr Sierras and 130 gr Speers. Always a lot of damage.

a45gunslinger.

I would say he is going to have quite a bit of hide damage no matter what bullet is used. If the hide is in bad shape to start with it won't matter. I don't know what area you are in but here in N.M. the hides are in rough condition to start with so it wouldn't make a lot of difference........joe.........

Thanks guys,   I don't think it matters all that much anyhow. We're just going cause it seems that theres so many around.  I don't think he'll mind caliber sized holes.  I've never used the 110's on game so i wasn't sure what to expect. I shot one with an SST slug a couple months back and it didn't seem to do much damage at all. but then again they only travel about 1800 fps. - Kevin
