hogs in Kansas?
« on: December 30, 2006, 10:59:51 AM »
I've heard about hogs in Kansas. Last year there was some talk on the news about them being plentiful south of Wichita. Does anyone know about hunting in this area? I sort of have a score to settle; my great-great-grandfather was eaten by wild hogs, back in the Kentucky hills. I'd like to return the favor, and have a brand-new LH Savage in .300WSM to do it with.

Hate to break it to ya, but this year, they illegalized hog hunting of any sort in Kans-azz in order to eliminate the illegal importation of feral hogs into the state. Now, you need to jump through a bunch of hoops just to get a permit to shoot them. I used to live in Wichita and I did see one on the side of the road where K-15 meets I-135. Take a look through other posts on here and you'll find actual correspondence between one of us and the KS legislation.

Peace out and good luck...

Article in the KC paper today::: State control methods have been a failure. So the state will try more of the same. More helicopters and more state gunman. Last year they killed 25 wild hogs in the Clinton Lake area. About 100 are now thought to be in the area. That is exactly what the folks on this site said would happen. I wrote letters to lots of folks, but to no avail. As long as the average hunter is the only one complaining, nothing will change.  Boomer
