NEED LOAD ADVISE FOR 7600 30:06 CARBINE
« on: January 22, 2007, 06:33:48 AM »
I have a 7600 30:06 18 1/2" carbine that I would like to use 150gr bullets in. I am interested in your recommended loads that you have proven to produce 1 1/2" group @ 100 yds in your carbine. I have proven loads for 30:06 in 7600 rifle and bolt guns. My loads are IMR 4350 56 grs, LRP, nosler 165gr BAL TIP, and IMR 4350 57.5grs, LRP, nosler 165gr BAT TIP, but they just don't shot as well in the carbine as they do in 22" barrel. Should I use a FASTER burning powder?

I never had a carbine but I loaded 54.5gr of 4350 with a 165gr bullet for my 760 and got good accuracy. Maybe using less powder or a flat base bullet will help.

From my own experience ( 40 yrs. ) loading I usually use a faster burning powder for my short barrel guns than I do with the 22" & 24". This is what makes reloading fun. Make sure you keep records of all you're reloading. It will save alot of time & head scratching.   :) :) :)
