Diabetes and RVN
« on: April 28, 2003, 07:08:47 AM »
Many of us older cowpokes spent a bit of time in Sunny SouthEast Asia.  Turns out that our government spread about 21 million gallons of Agent Orange over hill and dale and Roy and Trigger.....

As of Nov 02, the VA has stated that those of us who were in RVN and have Type II diabetes are now entitled to compensation from the VA (check http://www.vba.va.gov/bln/21/benefits/Herbicide/   for some more details)
I filled out the required form via internet (took about 3 hours over a period of two visits.)  You will need your DD-214 plus know the names and addresses of doctors who diagnosed you.)  After that you get some more paperwork via snail-mail and then, if you have all of the paperwork, they say it can take up to 250-365 days for it to be processed.
As I have just finished mine a couple of weeks ago, I'll keep you posted but it will be awhile.
Just wanted to be sure all the Pards knew of this.

Thanks, Cheyenne. I needed to know that.

Next question is whether teh benefits are worth the hassle?
