i have been looking for a new shotgun to be used for turkeys. the main characteristic is that it will shoot a 3 inch shell,i have considered the maverick but know little about it. i was hoping to keep the cost under two hundred dollars. any thoughts or suggestions?

Cottonpicker, I have a Maverick 88 it is the security mod. with the 18.5 bbl. It is the lower price shotgun made by Mossberg, the safety is the only thing that I can see is diff from the Mossberg it has a top tang safety as the Maverick has the cross bolt type at at the trigger guard. I bought mine at a local gun show new acouple years ago, It will shoot 3" shells, mine is the syn stock and forearm mod. The gun has been very reliable and has held up very well. I also have an 870 Remington Turkey gun ,I like the Maverick just as well. I gave $200.00 for mine at the gun show.------------ Thank's.

i have a maverick it shoots very well with 3 inch shells i have a full choke and it shoots tighter than my dads old 835 mossberg at 40 yards and his gun has the custom choke tube.i will tell u it kicks like a mule though because of its light weight. if u buy 1 u will b satisfied i am very satisfied with mine after about 4 years of owning it.
