Magnum research info. please
« on: January 18, 2007, 10:25:11 AM »
I just saw a 454 sinlge action that really should go home with me but I don't know that much about them. This one has a 7 1/2" barrel and is a 5 shooter. The trigger is fantastic and it's got one of those free wheeling cylinders. Can ya'll give me any ups or downs on these revolvers. The owner is wanting my Blackhawk back,so I might get a deal. Right now I could get it for around $500 out the door, cash money or trade my Ruger and fork out a little.

That sounds like a great deal. These run about 800 new. I own one in 45/70 and like it a lot. I also own a 45/colt-.410 . the bfr big max and little max are great guns. The 454 is a handful, with full power loads. will also shoot the 45 colt.  they are good quality. The free wheeling cylinder is a plus on these powerful guns. The ability to back up the cylinder when a reload jumps the crimp is a great feature. Do a google search and find out more.

I am really fond of them. In my book they are what an optimized SA should be. I am searching for a 375 win. They made them a few years back.

I had one with a JT prefix serial number and it was excellent. Mine was a 475 and shot very accurately. I would check the serial number as I heard some of the earlier ones had some issues.

Though I don't agree with Loyd Small, I do agree they are to large for anal insertion. All of mine have worked fine so service was not needed! I would own another. I think I will look on the net right now!
