Best Season so far
« on: January 05, 2007, 04:37:18 PM »
Hello All.

This season was probably my best deer season to date.

I live in Reno NV now but travelled home to western PA for Thanksgiving and the 1st week of rifle season.

I managed to take a doe on opening day and a respectable 9-point on the first saturday.

I got to see my friends and family, hunt all week in the woods I grew up in and take a nice buck to boot.!

Here is a link for anybody interested in seeing a picture of the buck.

Hope everybody else had a good season.

 Deaqr Rummer:
Congrats! And yes, it's been a good season.
I noticed in the Pa. Game news a little idea. In the mid 50's the number of licenses sold was about the same as it is now, but the deer harvest now is several times greater.
I hope you enjoy the weather out there where you're at, especially when it gets cold and wet and really...enjoyable... around here!

This has been the best season in several years for me also. Between myself and my two buddies, we took 3 does and an 8 pt, and should have had one more doe. We hunt both Carbon Co and Tioga Co, both fall muzzleloader and rifle season.

I spoke to several guys this year who didn't even bother to buy a license - old and young - because they were fed up with not seeing deer. Times in PA have changed, you're not going to see the large groups of deer you saw 10 years ago when only bucks were shot for two weeks, followed by a 2 day doe season.

From what I've been reading, this is happening all over, less licensed hunters, but the folks who are still hunting are spending more time in the field and more dollars on hunting.

Woodbutcher, that's a nice PA buck!
