AR scope mounting question
« on: January 21, 2007, 10:44:27 AM »
Just bought a 16" heavy barreled DPMS upper from a friend,it came with a "SWAN" mount with the rear aperture sight and the slip on front sight with the set screws.I wanted to mount the scope on the swan rail but the power ring on the scope hits the aperture sight even with it laid down.I am pretty sure that my rings are extra high rings, but still not high enough.I removed the swan rail and mounted it to the flat top and removed the front sight, but I would really rather have the scope a bit higher.
Also when I removed the front sight....there went my swivel for my shoulder strap. Is there something I can buy to slip on the barrel to attach the shoulder strap to.Any help would be appreciated,I'm kinda new to the AR game, but I think I feel an addiction for BLACK BEAUTY coming on.
