..Now, to stir the pot !...LOL
« on: January 21, 2007, 05:51:42 PM »
I have been a big, big rimfire fan for some 60 years or so and have tried about all popular brands..Anschutz to Winchester.

Now I would like to talk .22 Mag for hunting..at regular prices for today,.. IMHO it's Marlin or Savage..a bit more bucks..CZ..than add many more bucks for the "high priced spread"..

Back in the 70s I was testing out many of the then current .22 Mags..some..Anschutz, Marlin, Ithaca levers etc.

When my friends asked me what .22 Mag tthey could buy for woodchucks that wouldn't "break their bank accounts"; from experience, I always steered them to the Mossberg 640K.

All those old Mossys would shoot ! My son had a 640K that consistantly outshot my Savage-Anschutz ( which is pure Anschutz).

Do any of you other "old geezers" remember the accuracy of those old Mossys ? Perhaps some of you younger guys have a Mossberg now that shows great accuracy !

I also had a 342K .22 LR carbine that was also a great shooter...

I think that original, plastic stocked # 377 "plinkster" didn't help Mossberg very much.to say nothing about that new Brazilian plinkster...
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

Oh yes I remember them.  I gave mine to a Grandson a couple of years ago.  It was just sitting in the safe and I also have an older Win. 9422M.  Thought the bolt would be better for him, besides I didn't use either one much.  Do spend a lot of time shooting my 22 rfs. tho and have a dozen or so.
