Fluted barrels
« on: January 20, 2007, 06:03:11 AM »
Just wondering !!!!!!!

Are the SS Fluted barrels that come with the Encore ProHunters tapered or bull!  Or... are they whatever you order!
Do ProHunter barrels have to be bull barrels in order to be fluted?

I got a quote from a small gunshop in my area on a ProHunter in 280 Remington and was told that the frame had to be ordered separately and, the stock, forearm and barrel was another shipment!
It seems to me like the ProHunter could be ordered as a "complete" firearm!
Of course it could just depend on his distributor!

The dealer said if it can be shipped together, the price would be $694.00 and if shipments are separate, the price would be $719.00.

Comments please.

That sounds a little strange.  My PH muzzleload came as a complete unit shipped to a local FFL.  It was about $700.

I bought my first TC Encore PH after Christmas last year.  My gunstore in Aiken SC told me that Pro Hunters were very diffiuclt to buy and he had ordered the frame and barrel separately and assembled them into the rifle that I bought.  My SS PH has a fluted 28" barrel, that may have some taper but it is certainly not a bull barrel.  The shop had only one other centerfire PH Encore and  and they had assembled that one too.  There was no shortage of PH muzzle loaders, but it was difficult to find a centerfire in this part of SC/Georgia.
