Savage 219, any experience?
« on: February 03, 2007, 02:03:09 PM »
I just picked up a Savage 219 in 30-30 caliber, in very good condition, with a mint bore.  I only had time for a quick 5 rounds at 50 yds. yesterday, and wasn't very impressed.  I am aware that this gun may have hated that particular load, and I've always had good luck with Savages shooting well.  I just wondered if anyone had personal experience with their accuracy potential.  Thanks.

Yes, I had a 30-30 and a 25-20 opened up to 25-35 and both were excelent shooters. I have a 219 frame for sale if you're interested. $50 and an FFL takes it. The 219 is geting collectable. The 220 shotgun barrels fit like gloves too.

Tried another quick group at 50 yds. with different bullets  (Sierras),  and saw a dramatic improvement.  This rifle apparently hates that batch of Hornady 150's.  Hopefully it will shoot cast well, as thats mostly why I bought it.
