I like mine.  As long as you keep an eye on the wind it is far more accurate than I am.

Mine is a factory barrel and has always shot well.  I have it mounted on a G2 with factory wood and a 5X15 Bushnell Elite on Leupoold mounts.

I prefer a heavier bullet than what the 204 offers. The heavier bullets buffer the wind better and give a better long range accuracy. I went with a 22-250 myself.

I too choose the 22-250 in the pro hunter, and with cloverleaf groups at 100 with the rem 50 accutips, I'm glad I did. I believe the 22-250 will serve you better at longer dis. , windy conditions, and larger game.

good luck, DM

Depends on what "varmints" are to you. If you are shooting prairie dogs a .204 is as good as it gets. I have two of them in G2/Contender carbines. If I were only shooting coyotes I would want somethng that launches bigger bullets.

The 22-250 is what the 204 want to be. Unfortunately the 204 is stuck with lighter bullets. The shine is gone when the 204 is loaded with heavier bullets.
I have stayed away from 20 calibers and smaller becuase I am hard headed and do not want to purchase more cleaning rods and accessories. Also I would not be able to use my existing cast trimmer head (rcbs 3 way $50) , flash hole deburing tool .. you get the idea.
I am way behind the times, my last 2 purchases were 220 Swift and a 225 Winchester. IF the 204 is around in 0 years I will probably still ignore it!
