We have a range in the back yard.....And are kids can empty a box of 50 rimfire ammo quick...So I buy bulk stuff (reminton golden bullets/ federal 36 grain copper plated HP)..Yes you get a few duds but are usually pretty accurate..Are 17hmr eats hornady/ 22 ulta mag eats winchester varmint 34 grain hp which are getting harder to find... 22lr sportster eats remington cyclone HP leads.......what do you uses for accurate rimfire ammo?Thanks Dale PS.... Yes boys just want to know your favorite rimfire ammo & what you have good luck with!

sorry buddy but what are you asking? .17 eats?. .22 Mag eats? .22 Sports eats cyclones? I may just be tired but I cannot understand the question, does something "eat" something? ....<><....

I think Dale means that's the preferred ammo that shoots best.

I haven't shot a 22Lr in so long, I don't remember that last time, probably in '91 when I went jack rabbit hunting in central Oregon! I have four 17hmrs that all like different ammo, I have probably 2500 rounds of different flavors that keep them all running well. The 17M2 Sportster shoots CCI fair, but I have some Eley that I want to try in it.

OKAY!!! Thanks Quick, trying to figure that out might have kept me up tonight!!! I also don't shoot much .22 LR anymore, since the coming of the .17's and my .22 Mag Sportster for coyotes. I usually just shoot whatever .22LR ammo I dig up in my old supplies if I have to shoot it. I do remember the .22 LR American Eagle was very dirty when shooting it and I did not really like it, Stingers very fast but not as accurate as I would have liked and most CCI stuff shot pretty well. I always preferred standard velocity for accuracy over the high speed ammo and for distances up to 50 yards .22 Shorts did just fine unless it had to function in a .22 LR only autoloader....<><....

I like the wolf MT for just about every thing. The american eagles shot good in my Marlin 925 also and for the price they can be a little dirty. The Remingtons are by far the dirtyest ammo I have ever shot but they don't shoot that bad.

I hope my 17M2 Sportster likes the Eley, I ordered a bunch of it that was on sale at Midway and the sportster is the only 17M2 I have. My 17M2 Sportster shoots the CCI and Hornady about the same. The Hornady might group slightly better.

The Sportster .22 LR produces its best accuracy with PMC Moderators. It willl shoot Winchester Wildcats, Federal Lightnings and CCI Standard Velocity very well. Range is 50 yards.

The Sporster 22 Mag produces its best accuracy with Winchester Dynapoints at 100 yards. The Sportster does not do very well with Winchester Super X. I've just picked up some CCI and Winchester Supreme ammo to try.

I don't own a .17 RF ... yet!

My Ruger likes the PMC Zappers. 10 shot group from 30 yards.

And my CZ 452 22 lr and my Charles Daley 22 lr like the Wolf MT.

My 17 HMR likes the Hornady the best. I don't plink so I can't say much about that. I either hunt or shoot for accuracy.

That's funny as I have found the American Eagle ammo much cleaner than the Remington stingers . I was so disappointed with the Remington 22 ammo that I gave almost a brick of it to a guy I didn't particularly care for . I figured he could spend some time cleaning the gunk out of his 22 !

The Federal American Eagle HPs are the most consistantly accurate and reliable ammo I've ever used. In two heavily modified 10-22s shoot Eley 10X Into .490 @ 50yds. The Am Eagles shoot .510's. For .020" I buy the Federals. The last case was $86.00, or $0.86 per box, the Eleys were $ 11.00 per box. Needless to say this was not a hard decision to make. My High Standard Victor in a Ransom Rest shoots them into .600 @ 25 yds.

Last time I bought the PMC Zappers I bought several bricks so I haven't had to buy any in a while. I hope they are still making this ammo.

PMC went out of business, Jamison bought them, dunno what's gonna happen to PMC products.

The shop I deal with "had" an entire case of PMC's stuffed under an ammo rack. When I heard they went out of business, I made a deal on the case. $10 per brick.

I could be wrong but if I remember correctly I paid $18.00 a brick for the PMC Zapper.

I have to admit guys, I'm not very familiar with PMC ammo. I've also never heard of "Zappers". I read some posts about how accurate and consistant the Moderators were and decided to try a couple boxes. Well, the info turned out to correct. They Moderators proved to be the most accurate .22 LR ammo I've tried to date ( I've not tried very many other kinds other than bulk ammo).

Usually my luck isn't that good. On a typical day, I would be walking into the shop as another fellow was walking out with the case of PMC's.

Here is what a box of the Zappers look like. I checked my supply of them and I have almost two bricks of them left. They will last me a long time. I haven't tried any of the Moderators, but I will if I can find some of them.

i use the remigton bulk pac from wally world they shoot well in my ruger 10/22 and my ruger slabe side thats what i shot plinking or hunting they work well for my

I use rimfires most of the time. My various rimfires like varying ammo. When I go to my range in my woods I carry a .50 cal ammo box full of rimfires..but from my experience, if I were foprced to "choose one " .22 LR for an all purpose round..it would have To be CCI mini-mags..followed by the WW power-points

My .22 mags like CCI 40 gr..Winchester 40 gr in that order..

My NEF .17 HMR really prefers the red tip Hornadys.

Fast-Eddie.. Stingers are by CCI, not Remington..in my experience..Rem =dirty, CCI=clean

BTW; unlike many, I have found the Stingers to be quite accurate in those rifles that should use them (non-Bentz chambers)

My Marlin model 60 doesn't like anything less than high velocity..lower power gives an occasional failure to feed.

The best bargain .22 LR ammo I found was the Winchester Dynapoint sold in 500 round bulk boxes at Wal-mart. It was a 40 gr. dimpled copper washed bullet and standard velocity load. I can't find it anymore although its still in Winchesters 2006 catalogue. WD22LRB

I read somewhere that the factory was damaged during Katrina but don't know if that was a fact.

I am down to less than half a case so I'm starting to panic. Hopefully it will be available again soon.

Every 22 rimfire has it's own favorite brand of ammo it likes. For most of my plinking I use Bulk Pack Federal. For hunting small game I like Rem. Sub Sonics. For serious target shooting with my Target guns it's Wolf MatchTarget. The new stuff I've tried is Fed. Bulk Auto Match. This stuff really shoots great & is very clean. Picked it up at Wal-Mart, about $ 10.50 a Bulk pack. Try it, your gun might like it!!

For 22 I usually just get remington thunderbolts. My 10-22 likes them pretty well.

For plinking I shoot what ever, usually the Federal bulk pack because that is what is cheapest at the Wally worlds in my area. For hunting I shoot Winchester Power Point, it it the most accurate load I have found in my rifles plus you get good performance on game. The last I bought was 1.59 a box if you bought it a brick at a time 1.89 otherwise.
