A little different idea on UVF .223 bull
« on: January 20, 2007, 11:01:26 AM »
I actually have piece-worked this rifle together. UVF stock set original, an older 24" .223 bull barrel, and the latest change.......I added a standard synthetic forearm in place of the UVF one. I also drilled a pilot right in front of the height adjustment knob on the UVF buttstock and added a swivel stud. Plus the sling and this is one lightweight varmint carry rifle! 37" overall length. The scope is a Japanese Tasco 6-24X44 with target dot. I like it! Hadn't been to the range yet, but I don't think I'll be disappointed.

Started out like this.

Works for me,
I think the bench varmint rifles are ok, but I usually like to walk around and call for those pesky critters. I just got this HB 223 and put it on the Survivor stock platform. I found a Tasco 6-24X40 mil dot lying around with some weaver Grand Slam steel rings and ready to rock and roll.

Handi-Holic FOREVER!

John, that's a nice idea you have there, I posted a pic once for someone who asked about that very idea!

Tim did you add a swivel stud to your buttstock as well?

I like the stock real well. could use one extension for me I think but it will be my daughter's deer rifle next year so I'll just leave it as is, still owrks fine for me.

pharmboy, Digger really likes his survivor stocks. He puts them on all his Handis at one time or another. I also thought about the survivor forearm on mine but I like the sportster one better now that I have it.

John, it came with the stud from H&R on the .22-250 UVF. If you got it from Choate, they might not sell it with the stud since the T-rail bipod adapter is optional, but is included from H&R.

Lik2hunt,
You and Digger should like my next project. I am going to inlay a "coon dick" into a buttstock I purchased from Walmart off a .410. I was told by my buddy over by Rubottom that the "coon dicks" were considered fine jewelry in the 70's. Is that so? I laughed like crazy when he told me that as I was skinning that raccoon. I'm going to give it to him as a gift. He says he has a whole drawer full of 'em. Do you??

Puhhleeez, I ain't got none of them things in any of my "drawers".  ;D
Had a friend one time that popped the nutsack off a squirell in his mouth for a joke and accidentally swallowed 'em. Then it was a joke for a long time afterwards.

When my coon hunting buddies and were hunting in the 60's,everyone of us had 1 in pocket to use for a toothpick after we cut the end off. I've got a friend that makes walking canes out of a bulls most prized organ. He hang's them up and lets them dry and I don't know what else he does, but people buy them.  Digger

Well I must admit I have what is purported to be the penus bone of a black bear given to me as a gift by a Maine Game Warden to be used as a swizzle stick for drinks. He said if I used it I would never be at a loss for conversation at a bar....<><.... ::)

Well...I guess I'll try to get this one back on track...cause you guys are starting to gross me out :P

John...That's a real nice little rig you got there for your daughter...I'm sure she will like it..I'm looking forward to hearing about her taking a nice buck down there with you next year...and maybe a hog too... ;) You gonna try some partitions out of it? I'm sure Digger can load some up for ya...If he can't...I'll be working out some loads for the youngest using them out of his..
