Youth ATV use in Mich
« on: January 10, 2007, 06:11:30 PM »
Hello,

I'm new to this. Michigan's law seems pretty strict. On State land you can't ride a 4-wheeler at all unless the child is 12 and certified.  There appears to be no lower age limit for trail bikes and snow mobiles. Am I reading this correctly? It would seem to me 4-wheelers would be the safest of the three types. I live in the north and there are WAY too many snowmobile accidents. Does anyone have experience riding in Michigan with children? Thanks and God Bless.

Sorry, not familiar with Mich.  Can you cut and paste the regs you are reading and maybe we can figure it out together with the folks on this board?

Here in Alabama it doesn't matter how old you are, you cannot ride them on state or federal land period except for an ORV trail in the Talladega National Forest. No hunting use of them at all except on private land with land owner permission.
