What is it about this specific piece of equipment that you like or don't like?

I like it.  It was inexpensive to upgrade to progressive reloading after owning the Rockchucker for years.  It delivers a much higher rate of production for pistol cartridges over single stage.

It is the only progressive reloader I own for making about 2,500 bullets per year (i.e. low production).  There were some initial set up difficulties but overall it performs well and if I don't screw up it doesn't either.

If you compare this to other reloaders, that comparison will not make any sense (and will be off-topic too).

I don't have one but a friend did.  He didn't think much of it for the reason you cited; it is too finicky to set up.

He only loaded a modest amount of 9mm, .38 S., .357, and .45 each year.  He hated to change calibers with it because setting it up took more time than it saved for a few hundred rounds.  But, like you, he said it worked ok most of the time once it was adjusted for each cartridge.
Common sense is an uncommon virtue

Cheers,
Got one and I'll agree it's tough to get set up the first time but works pretty good after.  Didn't like the auto primer system though.
I usually reload pistol ammo, but recently I got back into rifle.  Do NOT try to use this thing for 30-o6 or 308 - won't work.  So, I'm looking for another RCBS to do longer rifle cartridges 'cause converting back to single stage is NOT worth the effort!

Gentle iwnds,

crash..., when reloading for rifles I like to single stage.  I use the PACT digital powder measure and scale to load every rifle cartridge charge to within 1/10 grain of one another and to the charge weight that I want.  Then I set the bullet to the cartridge OAL that is right for my rifle.  You can't do that on a progressive that I am aware of.

I also reload for pistol on the progressive.  After a number of frustrating setbacks the Piggyback taught me to maintain a smooth operation and to never let my mind wander from the task at hand.  When the primers run out the first or second time, it can and has been a PITA to get used to, but after a few hundred rounds that process even smooths out.

I believe it is a mental thing mostly.  The Piggyback will do what you want it to do if you are consistent and stay on task.  Wander off just a little bit and it will screw you up.

I like the process of progressive reloading without it breaking my bank for the loader.

I have one that I like, but don't use much anymore. I purchased a Pro2000 with the APS primer system and it is much more reliable. On my PBII I also replaced the dispencer linkage with the case activated linkage which made it more reliable. Still use it for .45acp

I`ve used alot of RCBS equipment over the years and they do make some very good equipment. That say, if your going to a progresive reloader Dillon is the only way to go. I`ve loaded on a 550 Dillon since the late 1970`s. I`ve got no idea of how many different rounds I can load at present but 3 different .17 cal rounds, 7 different .22 cal rounds, ect. ect. Changeing from 1 round to another is faster than with any other press. I`ve shot several sub 1/4 moa 5 shot groups and with some of my gun expect all groups to be under 1/2 moa with ammo loaded on it, and that`s with a loading rate over 200 rounds per hour.
