I found a Winchester 71 in 348 Winchester in >80% condition.  What do you think it worth?

Probably it's weight in gold to some !
That is the smoothest lever-action rifle ever created. And as far as I remember
it was only made in that caliber, but I may be wrong on that.
There was a story of a Bush pilot offering to trade an almost new piper Cub Plane for one
and the owner, another pilot. refused. That says a lot for the rifle and how cherished
it was by the owner.

there is a few things to consider before determining how much its worth .
1. is it a fancy model - checkering and swivel studs from the factory
2. is it a long tang or short tang - long tangs are more scarce and were early production
3. factory peep-site - some had a factory peep that was machined right on top of the action .
if it has any of these three factors then the price should be a little higher then a plain model 71 . look on auction arms to get a idea of what dealers are asking for them . if its to good a deal check it over good !

I paid $1600. for my as-new 71 a few years back, but it came with 20 boxes Winchester ammo, 600 bullets, 300 brass and all the reloading stuff the first owner had. THAT was a bargain. ;D
I get my kicks from an 1886.

recently i purchased one for $1000 , it is a 1950 deluxe model . the only draw back is there is a lyman peep sight added on the side of the receiver . but it sure looks pretty !

Some 71s came from Winchester with Lyman No 56 receiver sights. Mine did, as well as one of my very last to be manufactured 1886s.
I get my kicks from an 1886.
