Need Help finding Stock
« on: February 20, 2007, 06:44:02 AM »
I am looking for a very lightweight stock for a mauser 96 chambered in 6.5x55 If the stock is not short I will need to trim it for my wife. I have been looking at synthetics but don't know if you can cut them down.

Thanks

Keep your eye on ebay.  I just bought my first synthetic stock a few weeks ago, it fit the gun like a glove.  And at $45.00 plus shipping, the price was right too.  There has also been some wood ones there too.  When you got to ebay, use the search engine to specify model 96 mauser.

Honay - check Graybeard's list of sposnsors, there are at least two stockmakers here and the 96/38 Swedes are popular enough for a couple of stock designs.  HTH.  Mikey.

Honay,  I bought a Ramline stock from the classifieds on this site a few years ago.  I put it on a m96/38 Swede that had a nice elm stock that I wanted to keep in good condition.  The Rline comb is a little high for me when using the iron sights but would be correct with a scope.  I have since bought a Kimber sportered swede with a scope and don't shoot the M38. I would sell the stock for what I gave ($45) and shipping. You can contact me at  jsharmons@gmail.com     I have cut off a Rarmline stock about one inch without getting into the hollow portion. The Kimber has been shortened and a limbsaver pad glued on.  I think one could be shortened to any length and a plug epoxied into the hollow portion to attach the pad or use a slip on pad.  Hope you find what you need.
