Hi Quiet Burp
I live in Brisbane and shoot Cowboy Action. My wife Karen also shoots. We try to shoot once a month at Millmerran which is about 250 km from Brisbane, however it is about the only place we can shoot on Sunday. We get to Chisholm Trail each year at the end of September and have a great time. You should get yourself there. There are shooters from all over Australia, New Zealand and USA.

Hi Doc, I've heard of Millmerran but I thought it was a muzzle loading thing. What sort of lever and sixgun events do you shoot? I've just been to the N.E.M.L. shoot at Taminic in Vic. ( mostly muzzle loaders). Have you been there? If you'd like to leave me a private message, we could have a rave without boring our Yank mates... actually if any of you guys from U.S. are interested in the Oz scene, Let me know.

Got a couple of OZ freinds online, who are SASS members and come to the states fer EOT. One of them caused quite a stir on the SASS Wire with her alias last year.

ButlerFord old mate, we're doin the same thing on different sides of the Big Water. Man, how I'd like to be wearin a silk waistcoat and a black frockcoat and white moleskins and ridin boots and ringin the 100 metre (oops, yard) gong with my 73 Winchester and peacemaker with you guys! Sheeet!...It don't hurt to dream though.  I'm not going to pretend to be an authority on the Oz scene. Levers, especialy '92s in .32-20 used to be popular until the advent of the hornet and .243. Most guys shoot bolts, but my greatest buzz is hittin somethin that needs about a ten foot hold over with my .44 or downloaded .357. The closest thing to cowboy action I have seen out here is "colonial action", but you just shoot at paper targets from the same position with pistol, shotgun and rifle a bit borin, really. Am I right in thinking that cowboy action involves the shooter moving down the range, shooting at targets as they jump up? I love readin what you guys are gettin up to I reckon the cowboy world is a far better alternative to the reality everyone else thinks we should be livin in! O.K. Cuts man, what WAS that shiela's alias? You gotta bear in mind that although our great languages of "Mericun" and "Stryun" are more or less both based on English, the same word can mean two different thangs! All the best Q.B.

Indeed! The same words may carry very different conotations b'twixt the two locals. The lady in question goes by the registered SASS alias, Buckshot Bitch. As I unnerstan' it the "b" word can be a term of endearment b'twixt freinds down yonder ways. Not here!

This is what I mean! We really speak two different lingos! "comin over like a flamin galah" is similar to "comin the raw prawn"... probably not quite as bad, but, if you do it to much you will end up in a "blue" O.K. I better try and talk "Pommie" A galah is an Australian cocatoo that makes a lot of noise, but not much sense ( from a human beeun point of view any way). Also, FLAMIN means upsetting people on the internet,I believe? "Comin the raw prawn " means to be aggressive and obnoxious. And as you guessed, a"blue" is a "scrap" or fight. So when you come over here and someone says"Are you comin the raw prawn mate". You beta say "no way, mate"...unless you fancy yourself as a scrapper. Getting back to the "B...." lablel for a shiela, over here it is a bit rough, but is usually taken to mean a woman with "attitude" who stands up for her self. i.e. " tough old bitch". Did that clear it up or just confuse the issue?

Her shootin's bin a might curtailed by the recent addition of a new youngen though. Seems ta me that she shoots with Constable Nelsons outfit though. He's 'nuther pard I know of down yer way.
