You forgot all those Tomahawk cruise missiles the Navy guys lob over into enemy territory and the Navy fighter jets that help fill in the gaps.

My son says the Marines are the first on the beach, after the Sea Bees go in and clean it up.

As for me, I joined the only branch of the military where the Enlisted troops stayed at the base and sent the Officers out to fight.  Then Half way through my career they changed it on us.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Ya know thats mostly true..but... I've covered more than one Marines back with my M-60 while hanging out the door of a helicopter, And when It comes to big bores ask a marine grunt who his best friend is when you gotta call for covering fire and those sailors 15 miles away start putting them where you want'em and the bad guys don't. And one other thing Usally the first people into a new conflict, Navy Seals. Just some food for thought. 8)

NAVY SEALS are normally the second or third on the ground. Trust me, others are there first.
Just remember, there is someone before them that tells them where to come ashore...
Personally, I'll take an AC-47 over a Helicopter for backup any day ! "spooky" is a good friend to have around! Choppers are nice when it is time to leave though.
