Shakeup at DNR. Now run by newbs/lawyers?
« on: January 26, 2007, 06:43:55 PM »
I just came across this article in the latest addition of WON

http://www.wisconsinoutdoornews.com/articles/2007/01/18/news/news1.txt

Reading the article leaves me wondering many questions as to why a seasoned vet at the DNR is given the boot in favor of someone with a small fraction of the experience. I get the impresion the DNR is now run like big bussiness = get rid of the knowledgable employees who've been around a long time, in favor of some newbie fresh off the street with nothing but a piece of paper.

This paragraph stands out like a sore thumb:
Doyle announced the changes in a press release late on Friday, Dec. 29, just before the long New Year’s weekend. Meyer pointed out that those types of news releases often are used by politicians who know their decisions are going to be unpopular with the public. In today’s electronic news world, that Friday announcement is long forgotten by Tuesday morning, and news outlets go on to newer, fresher stories.

So does this one....
Eighty years ago, Aldo Leopold, Bill Aberg, and Haskell Noyes got the Legislature to separate politics from conservation decisions, but now we’re back to where politicians are making the decisions instead of career employees, and that’s not a good situation,” he said.

I am quite sure that the folks at the DNR & the state, lurk here at lake-link. Who wants to post the inside perspective as to what in the world this is really all about?

I'm all ears.......

The Key word above is Doyle >:( If that butt wipe has anything to do with it you know it will be screwed up.
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

"butt wipe", you are being way too easy jh45gun.

There is a word for the moves Doyle has made, I think it's cronyism. Yeah, I think that's the one. Appoint your friends or "cronies" to positions they have no right to occupy. Heck, if I were one of Doyles' buddies, I could be head of the DOT or more likely head of floor polishing at the Capitol. At least I would be qualified for Head Floor Polisher... ::)

More qualified than the professioal politicians he has put in power in the DNR.

I am not an educated man but what I see going on in the DNR makes me shake my head and these moves don't look to be a fix for issues facing the DNR today or in the future.

I posted this on Lake-link. More will see it there than here. I suspect a few folks from the DNR/state will/may see the post and have a take. Anonimity works wonders on the net sometimes. I do want an answer. I trust Doyle about as far as I can throw him. I guess that would be a wash, since he doesnt trust me with a concealed handgun. This is what we get when an attorney general becomes governor. What a putz....

Feel free to copy/paste this in an e-mail to your buds. Better yet link to the thread here.

I eagerly await the next issue of Wisconsin outdoor news. Should have some further info, I hope.

If we had enough money, couldn't we pay Doyle to have concealed carry. He seems to have no trouble being ethically flexible when it comes to campaign finaces. Too bad the big money is with lawyers and teacher's union.

With the state of the schools in larger Metro areas, one would think the teachers would be all for CCW. ::)

Peterbuilt, I don't see it on Lake-link. They don't seem to take opposition to Doyle very well. They most likely removed the thread.Even if they don't remove the thread I'm not sure most will comprehend what happened anyway. Any negative mention of Doyle seems to get a lot of insults and defensive posts. I Don't spend much time there after the elections  since I couldn't keep a post on there for more than a few hours when the subject was why sportsmen should vote for Green, and especially why we should vote yes for the marriage amendment. I caught a lot of flack from them .  Later, ihookem.

I know what you mean about the analness of Lake link. Moderation in heavy dose LOL. Politics for the most part are now taboo, due to the many whiners who abuse the PM system with childish rants over disagreements. I think the politics ban is more for the general BS forum. I have been there almost 6 years since day one, and only have bothered to post 450 some odd times.

Anyways, my post is still up. It is in the "Outdoor Message Boards - Wisconsin Outdoor Issues & Conservation"...You have to have Wisconsin selected in the upper left part of the page, which you probably have done already.

BTW, the Doyle bashing is coming along quite well  ;D
