Accelerators
« on: December 12, 2006, 03:26:41 AM »
This may not go here, but I am down to my last box of Accelerators !
I have seen the Plastic Sabots to load your own, but I can not find who sells them. Do any of you know who makes the sabots to load .22 Cal. projectiles into .30 Cal cases?

Remington still makes them for 30-30 and 30-06. Not sure why not 308

I have afew friends that plaied with the sabots and none of them were able to any accuracy past 75 yrds. By the time you get to 100 yrds. you can still get a groundhog, but by he time you get to 150 yrds. your lucky to get 1 in 10. and past that your lucky to scare them.

I tried them in 308. For accuracy I got 4" groups at 100 yards. If you wanted to shoot a problem coyote in a reasonable distance they would work.

They are fire and brimstone on Coyote out of a .30-06 !
Severe splatter effect. 4000 + FPS with a .55 Gr bullet = Beotch Slap in the extreme !
They will literally lift an average 30-40 pound coyote off of the ground at impact.
2.5 or 3.5 inch groups are about average I have found At 100 yards. Try loading
the even smaller 45 grainers with the polymer tips They turn Crow into a puff of feathers..
Get a shotgun news magazine, they almost always have them in there (Sabots that is).
Also, they make some nice "Squib" loads for your .30 cal hunting rifles. Load them down to about
1500 FPS and they work nicely on that big Cotton tail rabbit you always see while going back to the truck from your stand.. 55 Gr FMJ will do the trick pretty well. I need to order some more myself
come to think of it. I used to use a round ball (#1 buck I think) and a few grains of Unique for this purpose but sabots work better.

I can't see any reason to shoot those Accelerators any more. I have a 22-250 now.  I guess if you have groundhogs and don't have any other way to kill those groundhogs they might work.
