Powder for 500 S&W

Hello all, I am in the process of selling off an expensive piece of equipment from one of my other hobbies and if it goes well I will be able to order a new handi (yeah) next week in 500 S&W to keep my 7mm08 and 243 company. They need a new friend. My question is this. I read in a current post regarding reloading with a slower powder to reduce the recoil in the 500 S&W. Does anyone here have recommendations as to a slower powder to use. I would like to look at come components soon if I end up buying the gun. Thanks, Charlie

For top-end loads you're basicialy looking at H-110 or Lil Gun (at least for now). I hope they will introduce a new powder for the 500 S&W sometime in the near future.

In my 500 S&W I shoot the most loads with 10 grains of unique under 440 grain lead GC bullet. That load is just plain fun.  My medium load uses 15 grains of Titegroup under the same bullet and my "elephants in the yard" load load uses 40 grains of H110.  The bullet I use in all my loads is a very hard cast gas checked bullet with a 90% meplat from Ranger Rick in Alaska.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I went to the hodgdon website and it looks like the "trailboss" powder would be a light load like "unique". Charlie
