Replacement sights for Colt 1911 Government Series 70 MkVI

Any help on this is welcome.  I have applied for a carry permit Florida non resident and currently have SW Model 19
and Colt Government .45 Seriers 70 MKVI Nickel.  Can't decide what to use as carry weapon.  I have standard fixed
sight on the Colt and was thinking I might reduce the value if I change the sights and modify. Thought to upgrade
with the Crimson Trace Grip Laser.  Any thoughts and any input on what the value of my Colt .45 might be.

I don't know how much more value, if at all, a Series 70 Colt carries these days.  It may be higher than the Series 80s due to the, umm, 'enhancements' made to the Series 80 pistols. 

Any sight replacement will usually require both front and rear sights and the front sight would have to be removed and replaced with either a removable sight (dovetailed) or one that would have to be worked down to get your poa to poi.  If I didn't want to bugger the slide and keep it original I would simply get an aftermarket slide (find them in the Shotgun News or from your dealer) and have that fit to the frame and use that while keeping the original in case you ever sell it.  I did that with a Springfield, but just because the new slide came with good Novak type sights.  HTH.  Mikey.

Condition is everything, so it depends on the condition of your Series 70.......but its probably worth a lot more than when it was new.  Most Series 70s I have seen at gun shows go for $800 plus.  In fact its pretty hard to find one for $800.   The gun probably originally sold for $350 to $400.

I wouldn't change the sites,  Crimson trace grips would be a good choice for a carry gun.
