yugo sks cleaning rod
« on: January 24, 2007, 08:18:48 AM »
I purchased a Yugo 59/66 a couple of weeks ago.  Now in Indiana deer hunting is limited to shotguns, handguns and muzzleloaders so you can understand my dire need of this rifle.  The rifle came without cosmoline, cleaning rod or cleaning kit, but with a grenade launcher etc.  I just purchased a cleaning rod for it, but the rod seems to be to short.  I'm hestitant to buy the issue cleaning kit, if the assembled unit won't be long enough to clean the rifle.  Does anyone have experience with the issue cleaning accessories?

The answer is that you "Buddy up" on cleaning. Your fellow soldiers all have the same rifle and you use the rods from two rifles.

In other words, just use your normal cleaning gear and leave the factory rod in the rifle.

Thanks.  I'd not have considered that option.  You've saved me the bother of locating the rest of the cleaning kit.  I'll use what I've got and spend the money on ammuntion.
