Remington .22 HP's
« on: March 22, 2007, 08:30:42 AM »
I bought that big box of 550 Remington High Velocity Goiden Hollow Points.   ;D >:(  Every magazine of 10 that I have shot so far has at least 1 dud.  That's unacceptable.  By the way, no mis-fires with good old CCI Blazer Aluminum.

Call Remington and let them know you had a problem. Also have the lot number on the box for them. If you don't tell them there's a problem, they can't fix it.  ;D ;D ;D

I have been shooting them with my Single Six and with about half the big box gone no misfires so far.  I haven't tried them in my Buckmark yet.  Maybe a different lot.

I've had far more misfires with Remington rimfires than with all other brands combined and I believe the bulk packs are where the manufacturer dumps their "questionable" ammo that doesn't quite measure up to quality control standards. I've had poor accuracy and generally unsatisfactory results from bulk packs of Winchester and Federal also. CCI Blazer is cheap and has also proved very good in quite a few of my rifles and pistols, it is generally my ammo of choice.

I have had the best luck with Federal when using bulkpack ammo, but in general I agree.  I don't recall why I got this Remington box, but I did, and it is ok so far.  My Single Six seems to be the least fussy 22 I have.  The Buckmark has its likes and dislikes for sure, and I may be unhappy with the Remington in that if I try it.   They all like the target ammo that I used to use all the time, but it has gotten way to expensive for plinking.

If I get the chance this weekend I will give them a try out of my Buckmark.  Like I said it has preferences...

I agree the Federal Bulk Pack are alot more reliable, accurate & cleaner. Have you tried the Bulk Federal Auto Match? GREAT STUFF!!

I found the Federal Auto-Match @ Wal-mart. About $11.00 for 400 rds.
It does shoot great in all my auto pistols.

I shot bullseye competition for years and had exactly the same experience With Remington standard velocity ammunition and zero misfires in over 50,000 rounds of CCI . I am sold on CCI everything.

I shoot tons of that bulk stuff, I seem to have better luck with the Federal, the Remmy stuff does misfire more than anything else.  I just eject it and put it in the next mag-full, and it always goes on the second try.  It's not the gun, the firing pin imprints is nasty, I guess it's just that the priming compound isn't distributed evenly inside.  It is aggrevating, regardless.  I also tried the new Federal Auto-Match, couldn't tell any difference in my guns.
