Rem 700P
« on: February 04, 2007, 02:03:30 PM »
Does anyone know if the 700P is available to the civilian market?  Does anyone have experence with the 700p in 308?  I am considering this as a target/varmint type gun.  I started looking at the model 700 VSF, but ran into the Remington Law Enforcement web site.  I haven't been to the gun shop to ask, so thought I'd check here.

appreciate any input!

You should be able to. I just bought one of the 7615P police rifles.

The 700P is in fact available to the civilian market.  With it coming out of the LE shop the quality control should be better, only certain folks work the LE shop and everything gets additional attention/inspections, that is why they are more expensive than the standard line.  Generally they are great shooters but like anything else occasionally you get a bad one.  My dealings with the customer service from the LE shop has been much better than with the sporting side of the house, they seem to take a lot of pride in their work and they know that more is on the line than just a hunt, an afternoon on the range, or a trophy if their product fails when it is being used by its intended market.

Seeing as we are on the *Tactical* discussion, Remmy is offering a new model, the XCR tactical. Looks quite nice and am eagerly awaiting local dealers shipments so I can see it.

I just can't decide on which caliber although I think Im going to stick with .308(yes another one) and save the Police for the .300wm
