30-06 Rimmed
« on: January 15, 2007, 04:49:11 PM »
Does anyone import brass for the 30-06 R?  It may be called the 7.62x62R.  I'm comming at this from the back side.  In my search for a small .416 cartridge for cast paper patched bullets, I came across a gunsmith that listed a reamer for the ".416 X 30-06R". A lot like the .400 Whelen, but with a rim to headspace on.  So at one time 30-06R must have be available.

Thanks

Not that I know of, but you can probably use the 400/350 Rigby. It has the same base dimension and is 2.75" long

If you are interested, I will look around here in Germany for some rimmed brass for the .30-'06.

in my COTW, 3d ed. the closest I can find is the 8 x 65R for a basic case that can be altered.  I have tried .444 Marlin for 8 x 57R, but it wrinkles when choking it down to 7 x 57R.

BTW, I've never heard of a rimmed .30 '06.  Is this a project?  I think there are several wildcats based on the .444 case.
