Small Base dies ?

How many of you use Small base dies for your .223 AR15 style rifles??   What is the need ??  Does it make the base smaller, as stated in the name of the die?    Thanks to all !

i use them in all my .223 used in the ars or minis. It just sizes the case down a little smaller to insure funtion. It does not size the base. Most of the time once the brass is used in the gun and is used in the same gun over again its not nessisary but dont count on using range brass fired in other guns to function in your ar. Theres a big differnce in chamber sizes on guns. Minis are even more fussy then ars.

Standard RCBS dies size small enough to work in all my .223's. I wouldn't want to stress the brass that much when I don't have to.

I reload for 3 AR-15's, don't have a small base die, don't feel I need one, I've loaded several thousand 223 rounds for those AR's without ever experiencing a malfunction of any type.

Usually the only shooters that need a small base die, have custom built rifle's, with tight chambers. Even then, sometimes they get by without a small base die. Shoot the gun to find out, probably will not need one. We keep trying peace, it usually doesn't work!!Remember-(12/7/41)(9/11/01) gypsyman
