Hey all, just thought I'd mention that up here in Canuckistan these doubles have been around for at least a year or so under the Baikal name. I've never seen one stamped Remington.
The few that I've actually handled have all been in .30-06, apparently no one has gotten a .45-70 yet. I was very interested in the bigger gun, but grabbed an '06 when it went on sale at a local shop. Haven't played with it too much yet, factory loads only so far. I mounted a Bushnell 3200 2-7 scope on it using a one-piece rail-type mount designed and sold for airguns, that fits perfectly onto the rib on the barrel. It's held up now to about 300 rounds of factory stuff. The gun basically shoots two decent groups (around 1 1/2 inches @ 100 yards), one out of each barrel. I haven't tried working up a load that prints to the same POI from both tubes. The barrels print around 3 to 4 inches apart @ 100 with most loads I've tried. It's quite light and handy, has reasonably crisp and shootable triggers, and is finished well enough for the money. It has an adjustment screw mounted between the barrels, under the rib, that is meant to regulate the barrels to shoot together. Sadly, the adjustment works in the horizontal plane, but the discrepancy in my gun is in the vertical plane i.e. the left barrel shoots higher than the right.
Still, I think it was worth the money, as it is quite a unique gun in a safe full of typical bolts and levers. I smoked a coyote with it a couple of days ago, so it's gotta stay around for a while at least.
Good luck finding one over there. I think you'll enjoy it if you do get one.
