Barrel Twist Question?
« on: March 12, 2007, 11:11:54 AM »
I'm ready to order a rifle and don't know which twist would be the best and need your help.  The rifle is a Savage Model 12 Varminter Low Profile Single Shot in 22-250.  I'm then going to have it rechambered to 22-243 Middlested and plan on using the Nosler 55 grain BT as the main bullet.  Savage offers a 1 in 9" and a 1 in 12" twist.  Which do you think would be the proper twist?

Given that combination a 1-14" twist. However you are limited so go with the 1-12" .

The 9" twist is for the longer, heavier .224 bullets.  The 55s will be screaming out of the Middlested, so even the 12" is tighter than needed.  Go with the 12".
