H&R out of the muzzleloader business?
« on: February 05, 2007, 11:38:29 AM »
I got a voice mail today at about 1:00 from the gun shop concerning the sidekick i ordered.

he said that he'd checked with 6 different suppliers and they all told him that the sidekick is no longer being made and that H&R is getting out of the muzzleloader business :o

so he can't fill my order :'(
i know this guy fairly well, i don't think he'd BS me about this.
needless to say, i haven't been able to get ahold of H&R to verify this.
i'm just wondering if he mistakenly tried to order a huntsman?
i hope it isn't true, i really want that sidekick
i'll update tomorrow after i call H&R

The Huntsman as a complete rifle has been dropped from their offerings, although it's still available as an accessory barrel, the Sidekick has replaced it. Sports South has both the blued and ss Sidekick in stock, so maybe your dealer needs to check a different supplier, or you need to order one at a Walmart if you can find one that will order one for ya. Cabela's has em in stock too.

I just purchased a Sidekick in Stainless (SPS-050) for $149 from Richland Shooters Supplies in Richland Pa. 717-866-4246 www.richlandshooters.biz Ask for Nancy

Being that it is a Sidekick they can ship it right to your door. That is if you would change your mind and accept stainless.

I'm gonna get ahold of him tomorrow, and see what's going on.  I'll bet he tried to order a huntsman
carbineman, that's about the best price i've seen on a stainless sidekick, i might just end up taking your reccomendation.
i'd have to call Brownells first though to see if they had bluing compound for stainless of course :P ;D

ok, looks like the holdup is at my end of things, the gunshop owner called and said he tried to get one all over, he called a place in ohio, nort carolina and a few others.
what he told me is that H&R is trying to get caught up on their rifle production, so the sidekick is kinda scarce at the moment.

Tim, that's the one i tried to get wal mart to order, but none of the ones around here will do it because they're not selling guns anymore or are getting out of it shortly >:(
looks like i'll have to keep trying

Can't your dealer order from Sports South?? They had both in stock yesterday.

I'm glad that they haven't gotten out of the ML business. I like mine a whole bunch. I believe that it's probably the best ML for the money, but that is just me!

Tim, i asked him about sports south,  he said that he doesn't deal with them.
i got ahold of him today, and what he was telling me was that according to his suppliers, H&R is trying to get caught up on handi rifle production, and the muzzleloader production is on hold ???
that's the story i'm getting anyway....looks like i gotta keep trying
Carbineman, i called nancy today, and she had sold the last one this morning
