After about 20 years absence from bow hunting I've decided to get back into it. I was at BassPro recently and talked to the guy in the bowshop. I explained my quandrey like this. "I've got a bad shoulder ,I'm left handed and I've got short arms. I don't want to spend a fortune on something that I may not stay into. Can ya help me?" He looked around for a minute and came back with a bow that he thought would do what I was asking on all fronts. The bow was a Reflex Excursion. It's got a 60-70 lb draw weight and is surprisingly smooth. He had to back it down to 60lbs and adjust the draw length to the lowest setting of 25". It came with a 4 pin site and a 2 fingered rest, which I'll probably be replacing. Adding in a peep ,a stabilizer ,a release and 1 dozen carbon arrows and I walked out with it for less than $350.
I started shooting it last week at 10 & 20 yds. I'm shooting every afternoon for about an hour or until my arm doesn't want to work right. Nobody bothered to tell me or remind me about the muscles that I haven't used for the last 20 years. Dang, my arms and shoulder muscles sure are sore! The one thing that I am noticing is that it seems to be coming back easier ,so maybe it needed a little breaking in like me.
I imagine I'll have questions off and on so I'll get back with ya'll later.
