Canada 1000 yd. shoot august 07
« on: February 04, 2007, 07:30:10 AM »
Does anyone have any info or a link for the shoot north of the border this summer?  Also since Jan.07 you have to have a passport to enter into Canada, how long is this process?  What do we need to know about coming into Canada with several long guns? One more thing we will be driving. These are things that could be found online if you knew where to look , but being semi-confuser disfunctional....I thought that I would ask the board.  Thanks,45/70sharpshooter

45-70 ---

---- thanks for posting the question as a reminder. Did you hear where in canada the event is taking place? Hoping it's here in western Canada. Likewise would like to take that in, have to see what format and regulations are. Tried a few web seaches and nothing came up. I will check with my local gun shops and see if they know anything and post.

Also tried to pull up the gov't site re importation of firearms --- their site is currently down - maybe for updating - don't know.

You might also want to contact Canada Customs, at this next link scroll down to info on bringing in firearms:   http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel/visitors-e.html

Hope you and others south of the border make it up here for the event -- good for the sport and all of us in it....

Happy hunting and shooting ....Bob.

I been through Canada several times with a fire arm, some times no problem and other times it takes a few hours getting through.
Seems like there a little Paranoid thinking you might want to sneak a hand gun through.
Last summer I went through with a shot gun on my way to Alaska. I down loaded the necessary papers through the Internet and at the crossing handed it to the fellow in the window and he said pull over and come on in, all he wanted was the registration fee and never looked in the case.
Then you can go trough again and they will tear you apart twice looking trough your stuff.
