DW vs S&W
« on: February 08, 2007, 05:41:13 PM »
This may seem a little strange, but I bought a Performance Center S&W 44 mag about a year ago.  I was hunting for a Dan Wesson 44 but couldn't find one.  My question is, would the Wesson hold up better shooting heavy loads and does it have the potential for better accuracy than the S&W?  I have a friend that has a very clean Wesson but he doesn't shoot his guns.  I could probably do some trading and get his DW and trade him mine and get some boot out of the deal.

What do you hardcore DW lovers think?  Should I be happy with my Smith or try to trade to the DW?

Thanks,

Crabo

1.  Yes, the Dan Wesson will hold up MUCH better for heavy loads.  The S&W will eventually shoot loose iwth heavy loads.

2.  The Dan Wesson will be much more accurate than the S&W unless they had done a lot of custom barrel lapping on the S&W, which is probably not the case.

Your questions hit on both the areas where DW is hands down better than S&W, strength and accuracy.
