Marlin Glenfield 30 GT

I just picked up a Marlin-Glenfield 30 GT. Anyone have any info on this gun? I'm not familiar with the Glenfield line, and there was very little info on the web.

They are a 336 made to slightly lower specs.  As far as I know the important parts are just as good, like barrel, action parts, etc.  But the wood is normally plain, and the finish is not as glossy as a 336.

I have a Marlin 30AW that shoots great, and even looks good in my opinion.  But it was cheaper when new than a 336.

This one actually has some decent looking wood, checkered and engraved. Overall in great shape, just a minor ding or two in the stock. A little short with an 18" barrel, but looks like a good brush/blind gun. Came with a scope and sling, got it for $250. I saw one on gun broker for minimum bid of $325, so I think I did OK. There's a few others interested in it, so I may be able to turn it over easy, if I decide not to keep it.

The wood is ok on mine as well.  They came in at a lower price point, but I wonder if sometimes the factory put on what they had even if it was the more expensive stuff.  I have seen them used priced with the 336s.

Mine has a good trigger on it as well.  I lightened it up, but it never had the trigger "flop" I hear about.  And with Federal Premium ammo I can cover a 5 shot group at 100 yards with a 50 cent piece, so it does OK for a cheap gun.  It is responsible for a number of deer in the freezer, and will always have a place in my safe.

I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.
