Combo .243 and 20 gauge?
« on: February 15, 2007, 03:50:36 AM »
I visited my local gun shop last night, and they had a Handi with a .243 barrel, stainless receiver, synthetic stock, and a 20ga barrel, for $250. New. Did I see that right?  NW ser. no.
[edit] Oh, and the .243 barrel seemed pretty stout, with a recessed crown.[/edit]
I see nothing like this in the H&R catalog.

Yeap, you seen correctly. NEF/H&R planned on making combo packages, and they were in last years catalog. But Sense then they have decided to scrap the idea and made only a limited run..... exact number is around here some where, Mac reported on it. Hopefully He or Tim will post the exact number. And NW would denote 2006.

Seems like a very fair price to me, and they do look great with the nickel receiver.

The 3 barrel combos are the one they almost sacked, but will be making 1000 total of all of em, but the 2 barrel combos were listed in the catalog last year, but even they aren't listed on the site or catalog now. :-\ The 2 barrel combos are all shotgun/centerfire rifles, the 3 barrel combos include rimfires.

I at least hoped they would have kept the 2 barreled combos :-X

Having just gone cross-eyed looking at the SS and RR sites, it appears that this combo I found is a decent deal. The plain blue .243 with syn stock at RR is $219. For $30 more, I'm getting the 20ga and the stainless receiver.
So many choices, so little money...

As a follow-up, they list several 3-barrel combos on the RR Arms site.  One interesting combo is the .223/.17HMR/.22LR, a real small game varmint selection.
Of course, none of the combos are in stock, except the Versa Pack youth 22/410 and a .243/22/410 combo youth.

And the down side to the 243/22/410 is that the 243 is the 20" superlite barrel .  :(

I did have a 20/223 combo...and a 12/243 combo put back at my local dealer..but elected to go with a different make for my boys...both were blued...not stainless...so your price of $250 for it is pretty good...1 thing though...the receivers are nickel coated..not pure stainless...just so you know..

I saw one 243 20g youth green laminate but it is $279.
They don't make them any more but there are a lot in gun shops still.
