Savage 219 B
« on: May 16, 2003, 03:30:39 AM »
One of my boys has a Savage 219B that I want to buy from him.  I have no Idea what it is worth.  I want to make him a reasonable offer so I am not trying to get a really good deal but just pay him what it is worth.

It is a 30-30 and has a 24 inch barrel.  The blueing is 100% and the reciever is case hardened.  The wood has some scratches in the varnish but no nicks or dents in the wood.  It has a Weaver mount on it so it is not necessary to use the origional rimfire, dovetail mount that is milled into the barrel origionally.

Any ideas what I should offer him?

Thanks, Sixgun
You can only hit the target if the barrel is pointed in the right direction when the bullet leaves the barrel.

Well this will upset him and not you, the gun was made between 1938to1967 it commands in mint like new only $140.00 a shop would offer $70.00 for it, if you can not pry this from him, try the new N.E.F. handi-rifles.

Six, I have one of these critters and it is one of my favorite rifles. I got mine years ago from a pawn shop in Ft. Payne, AL, and paid $88 for it. It is very accurate and a pure joy to use. I had to drill and tap the bbl for a Weaver base like your boy cause the dovetail mounts kept slipping under the recoil.

For some time now I have been looking for another M219 to rechamber to Ackley Improved. I ain't gonna touch the one I have. The internet auction spots have them occasionally and they generally go for around $200 +/- in good condition. A M219 with rifle and shotgun bbls will go highter.

To me, the M219 is head and shoulders over the NEF because of its balance, slimness, lack of an exposed hammer, and overall 'carryability'. It isn't chambered for high pressure rounds, but that doesn't bother me. I'd love to get my hands on one in near 100% condition like the one you're looking at. To me, it would easily be worth $200!

I have 3 Savage 219s and several barrels. I have one 30-30 that has a 22 hornet, 12 ga. and .410 barrels that all fit. I have a 16 ga that has a semi beaver tail forend a cheekpiece in the stock and etched engraving. I love the things and am looking for more guns or barrels. I have paid from $90 to $225 for them. They were made in 32-20 and 25-20 also. Note on the Hornets, many are pre-war and have .222 bores, be careful if you have one on a 220 reciever with the shotgun fireing pin. Shotgunner
