Gave up on USFA
« on: February 03, 2007, 08:27:25 PM »
I had a USFA Omni-Potent Six Shooter on order since last June. They said they would be in production the last quarter of 2006. Guess what. Didn't happen. As a matter of fact, the lady answering the phone said they have never made any of those. Customer Service kept giving me the email run around. Then finally they said that they would be in production in June of 2007. However, there were backorder guns in front of mine, so I guess that meant I might get one in July or August? Or maybe when Gehenna freezes over?

I cancelled my order. With the money I had saved up I bought two other guns and still have some left over. I wanted a nice quality fun gun, so I bought a Heritage Series S&W 25-10 in .45 Colt. A really neat looking gun. I also bought a light weight carry gun. And the money I have left will go toward either a new rifle, or a FA83. Think I'm leaning toward either a BLR in 7-08, or a E.A. Brown 97D in 6.5 BRM.

Anyway, USFA has lost my business. Don't advertise what you can't deliver. Everyone says Freedom Arms is better anyway, and you don't have to wait for years and listen to excuses.

Sorry. I'm calmer now. Just had to vent.

They have such a great reputation for quality and make some incredible looking guns... too bad they can't keep up with demand.

I echo your sentiment, to often manufacturers offer products they just don't have "yet". Yet isn't good enough. Another and more serious offender is "RUGER!" While I'm usually waiting for them to bring out there product, like you Old Griz, I usually am able to get something else of equal quality and then forget about them all together. "OR" its out there and available only to special friends and bought out gun writers, you know, guys who get paid to write about guns and thier opinions blow which ever way the wind ($$$$) flow. By the way Old Griz, I'm looking into the M21, I hope S&W doesn't fall into the, I have a picture on the website but cannot produce cataogory. CRASH87

Any business that puts its customers on a bubble deserves a generous dose of neglect from the buying public.  BTW, CRASH87, your name suggests that perhaps you lost a bundle in the stockmarker about 20 years ago, si?

I recommend their guns but not the people who make em. The one USFA I've had so far is nice but it was like pulling teeth to get the factory to turn the barrel. Phone calls were never returned and forget email. It happened for so long I finally complained to the BBB. Even though they make a nice gun they have nothing but contempt for the people who buy them.

Not to take this too far off topic, but I've been looking at getting a M21, too.  Gunbroker has several up for sale right now, in nickel, blue, and that hideously vandalized Thunder Ranch version.

I gave my father a USFA flat top target for his birthday a couple years ago. It had a horrible trigger pull and we got tired of filing down the front sight in our attempt to sight it in. Many calls and messages later it finally was sent in and something was done. In the meantime I got a couple FA revolvers. From now on my money goes to FA when I want a great single action.

The 21 was a "Limited availability" gun. My dealer had them, but they are all gone now. However, I do like the new 3" model .44 Special they have on their website.

However.....
When I had a small problem with two brand new matching Rodeo models in .45 Colt, I had a couple of phone calls with the factory and USFA had me ship the guns to the blue dome right away. They figured out what was wrong and had the revolvers back to me within two weeks. The sixshooters have been working better than me ever since. I've really admired the Omni-Potent. Too bad if they won't really put them into production.
