ya pull the side screw and the lock can be pulled out. you dont have to take the triggers out unless you want to .
Couple of things to look for .
To much greese , oil dirt , what have you on the tumbler . Thus causing the fly to drag and not cover the half cock once the tumbler comes to full cock and the sear engages .
I would also look around the sear itself . If gunk , rust and what have you has built up there it can cause the sear to drag ,IE have enough movement to disengage the full cock but catch the ½ cock .
Also look at the fly and the sear face . Because its caught a couple times it could have a bur that has formed . once this happens if its not removed , it will continue to get worse tell it either brakes the half cock or the sear .
Also don’t forget TC has always had a very good warrantee on their rifles .
I have not heard if S&W is going to honor those warrantees or not . But if you need work done I would sure give them a call .
They can test the main coil spring as well . If the rifle has been used a lot it just maybe time for a little overhaul
